Daniel Kirk
Kirk’s interest is in visual language and community engagement, and he has established a significant presence in the city for collaborating on large-scale public art projects. Alongside partner Katie Green, Kirk created a four-story stairwell installation entitled The Imaginarium for cSPACE Kind Edward in Calgary. At the outset of the project, they invited students in the building to “imagination workshops” where they invented and illustrated words like “mermicorn”, “plob” and “ptor.” They mixed workshop material with their own to create a stairwell dreamscape loaded with playful, whimsical images.
Kirk graduated with a BFA from the University of Calgary in 2006, and is the co-founder of the BlankPage Studio, a local creative hub with a mission to encourage dialogue and active participation in the development of Calgary’s cultural sphere.
