Sarabeth Carnat
In addition to her pieces being comfortable and wearable, Sarabeth wants them to be timeless. With a deep love of her materials and their history and symbolism, she creates precious jewellery and objects, anodized functional objects and conceptual jewellery that celebrate its source material while also reflecting personal and relational issues as well as societal issues like gender and beauty.
While Sarabeth has been active in volunteer and committee work and attending conferences and workshops, she is also a Professor Emertus at the Alberta College of Art + Design having taught in the Jewellery and Metals Program since 1980.
Sarabeth was born in Calgary, Alberta in 1949. Her work has been shown in exhibitions in the United States and throughout Canada. She has prepared pieces for a variety of commissions and has been featured in Alberta Craft Magazine and other publications. She also received the Alberta Craft Award of Honour in 2012.
