Helen Zenith
In 1992, Zenith partnered with her daughter, Tamar, to transformed her Calgary art studio into a gallery. With Newzones Gallery of Contemporary Art, Zenith made the successful transition to gallerist and art dealer. Still thriving today, Newzones continues to support local artists and other home-grown entrepreneurs by striking the perfect balance of dedication to both art and commerce.
To further support the visual arts in Calgary, in 2012 Zenith created the "Newzones Gallery of Contemporary Art Fund" at the Calgary Foundation, which contributes to a wide range of charitable organizations and projects within Calgary’s arts community.
In addition to running Newzones Gallery, Zenith sits on visual arts boards, art juries, and has guest lectured at the University of Calgary and the Alberta College of Art and Design. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Epcor Centre for Performing Arts in Calgary, is an active board member for Contemporary Calgary, and served on the Arts Acquisition Committee for Bow Valley College in Calgary.
