Shelley Ouellet
Ouellet earned her BFA in Painting and Printmaking at the University of Calgary (1991). After serving a residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts (1995), she worked at the centre as an Associate in Digital Imaging, Media, and Visual Arts (1996), before undertaking a residency at Est Nord Est, St-Jean-Port-Joli in Quebec (1997), two more at the Banff Centre (2000, 2001), and at EM/Media in Calgary (2004). She has been a florist and a web designer, an instructor at the Alberta College of Art and Design, the Director of the Stride Gallery, and a freelance designer for arts groups such as Onedge.tv. She runs a private exhibition and arts event space called the Carpet 'N Toast Gallery out of her basement in Calgary.
Ouellet has mounted several solo exhibitions, including Bunnies at the Calgary Centre for Performing Arts Window Project, Entomology at the former Edmonton Art Gallery , and
All That Glitters… at 1,000,000 mph in London, England. Her many group shows include Mysteries of the Flesh at the Calgary campus of the University of Lethbridge, ArtThrob at Articule Gallery in Montréal, and hereweare at exhibition weework in Toronto.
Her work lives in the many private collections, as well as in the holdings of the Walter Phillips Gallery in Banff, the Nickle Arts Museum in Calgary, and the Canada Council Art Bank.
