Susan Menzies
A freelance graphic designer since 1981, Menzies worked as an art and design technician at the University of Alberta, a freelance writer for a variety of venues, and as co-director of the Society of Northern Alberta Print-Artists. She has presented and lectured across Alberta, in Saskatchewan, and in the United States.
Menzies mounted several solo exhibitions, including These Foolish Things at the Anna Leonowens Gallery in Halifax, Bewilderness at La Chambre Blanche in Quebec City, and Poets of a Dull Day at the Pittsburg University Art Gallery in Kansas. She also participated in almost two dozen group shows, including Young Blood on Paper at Latitude 53 Gallery in Edmonton, The Fifth Mini Print International in Cadaqués, Spain, and at the Red Head Gallery showcase in Toronto.
Menzies’s works live in the collections of the University of Alberta, MacEwan University in Edmonton, the Edmonton Art Gallery, the Banff Centre for the Arts, and the Kenderdine Gallery of the University of Saskatchewan.
She received substantial public funding for her work, including from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, the Canada Council and the Louise McKinney and Banff Centre for the Arts scholarships.
