Johann Feught

Johann Feught's art education began in Germany but he completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at the University of Calgary, and Master of Visual Arts at the University of Alberta. When Feught moved to Canada, he drove around the country before deciding to settle in Calgary. Feught has balanced a multi-faceted career as an artist, teacher (at three universities in Alberta and Waterloo University in Ontario), and designer of several important local and international museum exhibits. He works and teaches in several media, including printmaking, photography, and graphic design. Feught is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Creative Studies at the University of British Columbia Okanagan in Kelowna.

Feught developed a new non-toxic etching method called "Imagon." He introduced this technique, which incorporates computer imaging, to an international summer academy in Hamburg, Germany. At UBC Okanagan, Feught's research interests include the development and implementation of non-toxic contemporary printmaking techniques in Canada and in Germany. His work explores architectural geometry and the relationships between interior and exterior spaces. Artwork by Johann Feught can be found in numerous public and corporate collections in Canada and Europe.
