Nancy Corrigan

Edmonton artist Nancy Corrigan studied art at the Alberta College of Art (now the Alberta College of Art and Design, Calgary, AB, 1973-75), Red Deer College (Red Deer, AB,1975-76), and the Banff Centre School of Fine Art (now the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Banff, AB, 1978-79) before enrolling in Early Childhood Studies at Grant MacEwan College (now MacEwan University, Edmonton, AB, 1985-86). This training has enabled her to teach art and present expressive arts to people of varied ages and abilities, in collaboration with Edmonton-based institutions including the Edmonton Art Gallery (now the Art Gallery of Alberta), the City Arts Centre, Winnifred Stewart Association, the Canadian Cross Cancer Institute, West End Montessori Preschool, and many “Artist in the Schools Residencies” for schools in Edmonton and other Northern Alberta communities.

Corrigan’s own paintings, which often depict flowers, water sources, and trees, offer a sense of place inspired by nature, in connection with nature. She exhibits regularly in group and solo shows in Edmonton, AB, and her feature public murals can be seen around the city. Her work is held in the collections of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Belgravia Elementary School (Edmonton, AB), Miseracordia Hospital (Edmonton, AB), University of Alberta Hospital (Edmonton, AB), and Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital (Edmonton, AB), as well as in numerous private collections.
