Steve Coffey

Steve Coffee, artist and musician, was born in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba in 1963. Steve earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Calgary in 1988 and his Master of Fine Arts from the University of Regina in 1990. Steve and his family now live in Vulcan, Alberta. Steve has been an active part of the Canadian art community, including curating exhibitions, teaching and conducting workshops.

Steve was a sculptor before finding his passion in drawing and oil paint. His paintings are elemental, and focus on the nature and human interaction with the elements. While inspired by his international travel, Steve has a special love for the Canadian landscape.

Steve’s work has been shown in exhibitions throughout Alberta, and in British Columbia, Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon and Poland. Some of his pieces are held in the public collections of the Sunlife Building, Red Deer College, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, the University of Regina, the Town of Sylvan Lake, Canadian Pacific Railway, the Lacquer Channel Audio Mastering studio in Toronto, and the Bennett & Jones law firm. His pieces are also in a number of private collections throughout North America and in China and Europe. Steve has been featured in a variety of publications and in two art films: SameBoy and Postcards from the Prairie.

Steve is an accomplished musician and songwriter, has created over ten albums. He performs regularly with his band, The Lokels.
