Sharon Busby

Sharon Busby is an artist and educator born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. She attended the University of Alberta, earning her Bachelor of Education in 1967. In 1989 she received a Master of Arts in Arts Education from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Busby also completed a ceramics studio artist in residence program with the Banff Centre.

Busby held positions with the Edmonton Public School Board as an art teacher and art consultant. She assisted in the development of the Alberta Education secondary art curriculum and the development of several curriculum guides and teacher resources. She served on the Fine Art Committee for Grant MacEwan Community College and on a program committee for Latitude 53. She has also served on several juries, including many adjudicating children’s art.

Busby’s works have been featured in group and solo exhibitions in Alberta and at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. It is held in private collections as well as by Grant MacEwan Community College, the Alberta Advisory Council on Women’s Issues and the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute. Her illustrations have been included in Alberta Education publications and student publications for the University of Alberta. Busby was involved in the Alberta Foundation for the Arts Image Bank project and, in 1993, her work was featured on the Annual Report of the Alberta Advisory Council on Women’s Issues.
