Evelyne Brader-Frank

Evelyne Brader-Frank creates sculpture inspired by the human body and named for personalities from Greek and Roman mythology. Brader-Frank was born into an artist family in Wittingen, Switzerland. She works primarily in soapstone, bronze and steel. In 1994, Brader-Frank moved to Edmonton, Alberta, where she would live and work for seven years. She credits this period in her career and the time spent working with Canadian artists — especially renowned ice carvers Michael Rapati and Larry Andreoff — as a period of shift and development where she expanded her practice to include concrete, ice and other materials. Her work has been exhibited in Alberta, Switzerland and other parts of Europe.

Brader-Frank enrolled in her first sculpting class in 1990. She went on to study at the Franziska Dora Sculptor School in Wetzikon, Switzerland. While in Alberta, she taught Abstract Soapstone Sculpting and Carving and was a member of the Sculptors’ Association of Alberta. Brader-Frank lives in Switzerland.
