Christl Bergstrom

Holland-born Christl Bergstrom studied Fine Arts at the University of Alberta (1968 – 1972); she creates colour-saturated portraits that radiate with the vitality of the of people and objects in them. Her “landscapes” of harvested fruits and vegetables such as leeks, tomatoes, pumpkins, and beets tremble with the vibrancy of their hues, and glisten with gloriously-rendered moisture that transform her two-dimensional works into virtual reality.

Bergstrom has staged several solo exhibitions in Edmonton, including at the Front Gallery, Walden’s Restaurant Gallery, and L’Express Coffee Shop in the Students’ Union Building of the University of Alberta. She’s also participated in group shows at the Front Gallery and in Some Drawings By Some Albertans at the Alberta College of Art and Design.

Several corporate collections house Bergstrom’s work, including those of the Standard Chartered Bank and Nova Corporation, and a number of private collectors in Edmonton, Victoria, Salmon Arm, Thunder Bay, and Ottawa. Bergstrom lives and works in Edmonton.
