Ed Bamiling

Ed Bamiling is an artist and an active member of the professional arts community. He has provided artist talks, lectures and workshops in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Greece and Korea. Since 1995, he has been the Ceramics Facilitator with the Visual Arts Department at the Banff Centre, where he also advises resident artists and guides creativity sessions for leaders in the business, social and public sectors as part of the Banff Centre’s Leadership Development Programs.

Bamiling was born in Winnipeg and has lived in Alberta since 1989. He has studied at l’École des Beaux-arts in Montreal, at the Sun Valley Centre for Arts and Humanities in Ketchum, Idaho, at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia and at the Banff Centre. His work has been exhibited widely in group and solo shows throughout Alberta and British Columbia and internationally in South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, the US, Mexico, Greece, France, England and Germany. He is an active traveller, conducting cultural and personal artistic research on trips to Europe and Central America. Bamiling describes his creative process as rooted in question, action and response. His work, both as an artist and as a facilitator, centres on creativity as well as the emotional and narrative response it elicits in the viewer or participant.
